Planetside 2 Unveils First Patch, Rebalances Aircraft

For those of you who love floating around in fighter-class aircraft in Planetside 2, we’ve got some bad news: your favorite vehicle has been nerfed.

Planetside 2′s first non-bugfix patch has dropped onto the live servers, and while it doesn’t shake things up with a ton of new content, it does rebalance one of the strongest weapons in the game: fighter rocket pods. These unguided rocket clusters fired so fast and dealt so much damage that they received significant nerfs, including reduced damage to Sunderers, other aircraft, and turrets, and a reduction in the radius at which they deal max damage. For anyone who has been on the receiving end of a rocket pod barrage, this will be welcome news. For those who used them, we are sorry for your loss.

Other balance changes include repositioning of the Liberator tertiary turret, a change in the way shield generators at tech plants work, and some minor changes to faction infantry weaponry. But the most important change is clearly the new horns you can add to Sunderers and Flashes. Honk honk.

Full patch notes can be found at the Planetside 2 site.
