PlanetSide 2′s OMFG Optimization Goes Live Today

If Battlefield 4′s launch bugs and pure unadulterated disdain for 4GB Xbox 360 Slims has you down in the massive multiplayer shooter dumps, today should be the perfect time to jump back into PlanetSide 2.

As of this posting, PlanetSide 2 is down for maintenance, with SOE planning to have Auraxis back up and running today right around noon Eastern (9 a.m. Pacific). It’s all part of what Sony calls Operation: Make Faster Game, or OMFG for short. It’s a huge optimization patch that’s been in the works since September, and it’s all being done, true to the OMFG acronym, to make PlanetSide 2 run faster on all PCs.

How much faster you ask? SOE claims you’ll see a substantial 30% frame rate boost, even in the biggest of PlanetSide 2′s massive battles, and feedback from play testers indicates those claims are true.

We’ll find out for ourselves when PlanetSide 2 comes back online, hopefully fully optimized, in a couple hours. Let’s make it purple rain Vanu!
