PlayStation 3 Lifetime Shipments Reportedly Surpass Xbox 360

Lifetime worldwide PlayStation 3 shipments have surpassed those of the Xbox 360, according to a new report published by market research firm International Data Corporation.

GI International summarized the IDC’s 67-page study, citing that just this past December, the PS3 surpassed the 360 in units shipped worldwide, with approximately 77 million shipped versus the 360′s 76 million. Worth noting is that the 360 had a head start on the PS3, launching on November 22, 2005, while Sony’s console launched a year later, on November 11, 2006.

As of September 2012, both consoles had approximately 70 million units sold, which suggested that the PS3 would eventually overtake the 360 in sales.

Are you a PS3 gamer or a 360 gamer?
