PlayStation 4 Doesn’t Need PS Plus Sub for Sharing, Streaming

Which next-gen console will be better? Game Front gives the definitive opinion with our massive Xbox One vs. Playstation 4 Ultimate Buyer’s Guide.

Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida answered some very pertinent questions on Twitter regarding PlayStation Plus and whether a subscription to the service is required for players to do streaming and game capture on Sony’s next-gen PlayStation 4 console.

In response to fan questions on Twitter regarding the PS4′s ability to record and share game content, Yoshida tweeted that the features would not be exclusive to Plus members and that they would be available to everyone. Here’s what he wrote:

Unlike the Xbox One, which requires that players hold a subscription to Xbox Live (via Ars Technica), PlayStation 4 will not require its players to be subscribed to PlayStation Plus for these services.

It really is cool that the PS4 has opened up this feature for everyone that has a PS4 instead of people that pay for a playstation plus subscription but it’s still let down by only being able to record for 10 minutes.

If it’s like the Xbox One also where you can’t record certain parts of the game that release spoilers or whatever (for example last level of a game) then it won’t function.

Hauppauge have spoke with Sony and Microsoft regarding their HD PVR 2 functioning with the next gen consoles and it has been confirmed that it will work just as it does on the current gen of consoles, perfect.

If you want to get out of all the stupid restrictions then an external capture card is needed, the best one out there at the moment is the HD PVR 2 or HD PVR 2 GE+.
The GE+ has some bonus features and stuff.
