Questionable Report Claims PS4 Price Point Leaked, 399 Euros

Update: The leak seems questionable at best given the use of Euros on an Indian-based website. Other prices on Sony India’s website are listed in rupees (example), the country’s national currency.

Sony India has reportedly updated its website with the retail price of the PlayStation 4.

Although the update has since been removed from the site, it wasn’t before NeoGAF and the folks at GamingBolt managed to grab details about the PlayStation 4. It’s rather convenient that it’s gone missing, with no screenshots in sight.

According to the reports, the pricing of the PlayStation 4 has been pegged at 399 Euros, which translates to US$514—although it begs the question as to whether they will do a direct conversion or whether, like video game pricing, they will go for a straight 1:1 price point. That would place the PS4 as a reasonable US$399 instead of a US$400+ price tag, which would be much more difficult for gamers to swallow, especially given competition with Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox.

That is assuming it’s real.

We expect Sony to remain mum on the subject of the PlayStation 4′s price until E3 comes.

We’ll be reaching out to Sony for comment.
