Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale Announced

At a press event in West Hollywood yesterday, Sony unveiled the company’s official entry into the licensed characters fighting game world with the announcement of Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. The fighting game, sure to draw comparisons to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros., features what is promised to be a large number classic characters from the history of the Playstation consoles going back to its earliest games. The full list of characters has not been revealed, but at the event 6 were confirmed, and available as playable characters: Kratos from God of War; Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal; Killzone’s Colonel Radec, Parappa the Rapper; Fat Princess (possibly the funniest thing we saw all day); and the immortal and underrated Sly Cooper.

As expected from a game that riffs off of the Super Smash Bros. concept, it was chaotic, fast paced and full of fan service ranging from obscure to hilarious. The game also had a few original tricks up its sleeve too. Want to know more? Check outour hands-on preview from the event.
