Playstation Network Receives Pre-Load Functionality

Thanks in large part to Steam, PC gamers have had the ability to download the majority of a game prior to release and have it unlock and playable within moments of the game’s official launch. Now, Sony is adding this same functionality to the Playstation Network.

Sony has introduced a pre-buy system to its PlayStation Store, allowing PSN users to purchase and download certain games in preparation of release day. The first game to use this new system is PlayStation Move-enabled Sorcery, scheduled for released next week.

It amazes me how the line between console gaming and PC gaming continues to blur as the years go by — hardware issues aside.
