Namco has released a special remix version of Pole Position II for iPods with video capability. Racing enthusiasts with the iPod nano with video, iPod classic or the fifth generation iPod can order Pole Position: Remix off iTunes for $4.99.
“Pole Position: Remix takes the classic game play of one of Namco’s most popular racing series and combines it with new themes, designs and more integrated game play,” said Scott Rubin, vice president of sales and marketing, Namco Networks. “The iPod Click Wheel is a perfect control pad for steering in a racing game and the device’s portability gives consumers access to this quality game experience anywhere, anytime.”
Pole Position II: Remix features the brand new Misaki Point track available only on the iPod. Listen to your favorite tunes as you burn up the track.
Personally, I don’t think I’d get much mileage out of this deal. If Apple plans to try and break into the handheld market, they’ll have to do much better to compete with either the DS or the PSP. Still for $5, I guess it’s not that bad for someone with no other options.
