Poll: More Gamers Will Buy A PS4 Instead of An Xbox One

According to a recent poll on social polling site 1World, more gamers will buy Sony’s PlayStation 4 rather than Microsoft’s Xbox One.

Live since July, the poll has garnered 1,584 responses to date, so the results should be taken with a grain of salt. 47% of voters fall into the 40+ age group, and 61% are male.

The poll found that 55% of respondents are more interested in purchasing a PS4 instead of an Xbox One — I bet these numbers were skewed much more heavily toward the PS4 immediately after E3.

Respondents under 21 years old were the most likely (64%) to be interested in purchasing a PS4, compared to 55% of respondents age 21-40 and 45% percent of respondents over 40. It seems the PS4 is being better received by the younger demographic, whereas Microsoft’s “one box to rule them all” strategy is playing better with the older crowd. Given the majority of respondents were in the 40+ group, I imagine we’d see the overall numbers lean more heavily in favor of the PS4 had the age distribution been more even.

PS4 or Xbox One — which will you buy, and what demographic do you fall under? I’m a male in the 21-40 group, and were I not a PC gamer, I’d buy a PS4.

No surprise here. I think more people would have been shocked that Ricky Martin is than that PS4 is projected to beat Xbox One. The only real surprise is that it’s only a 10% swing after all the crap Microsoft has done this year.

‘G-a-y’ should not be censored. That’s ridiculous.

These things are worthless. Wasn’t there some group that said XB1 would outsell PS4 based on ebay auctions and mark ups?

Hey this is exactly what they said back in 05 if people were gonna buy the 360 over the PS3.

Except back then people were mad about;

- Xbox Live didn’t support Dial-Up anymore
- 512MB integrated HD wasn’t enough (compared to what the PS3 was offering)
- Halo wasn’t a launch title

Totally in sync with Miozzi on this one. PC owns all, but PS4 will likely win this round of console wars handily. Microsoft has never really put its customers first but the relationship has become downright adversarial over the past three years. They still think their invincible, and the industry that’s built around fixing Windows problems certainly hopes so. Well, pride goeth before a faceplant and Microsoft is nearly as ripe as IBM was 25 yrs ago. As for those poll numbers I’d say the respondents probably ARE mostly in the their 40′s. They were in their late 20′s when the Xbox arrived and loved it dearly. They got a 360 and endured the RROD and other trials. But the XB1 is a bridge too far and these Microsoft ex-pats are eager to express their displeasure any way they can – and they every right.
