Possible Solutions To Some Battlefield 3 PC Problems
My Battlefield 3 experience has been pretty satisfactory so far, but as I understand it not everyone’s has been like that. Folks are suffering from microstutters, crashing and the inability to even start the game. The community hasn’t yet come up with solutions for all these problems, but there are a couple things you can try if you can’t get the game to start up.
Open the correct ports in your firewall
If Battlelog says “connecting to server” forever, it may be because you can’t get through the firewall. Be sure to leave the following ports open:
TCP: 80, 443, 9988, 20000-20100, 22990, 17502, 42127
UDP: 3659, 14000-14016, 22990-23006, 25200-25300
Make sure Origin has administrator rights
Apparently this has worked for some people.
I found this on the BF3 forums:
1) Go to the folder where Origin installed BF3 (C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefield 3\ Battlefield 3™) (thats where mine was installed)
2) Rename the Battlefield 3™ folder to Battlefield 3 – (removing ™)
3)Start regedit , browse to the following key :
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WoW6432Node\EA Games
Change the GDFBinary & InstallDir paths to C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefield 3\ Battlefield 3 – again removing ™
Those are the solutions we have right now. They won’t solve everyone’s problems, but hopefully they’ll help a few people. We’ll add more as we find them.
Do you have any other solutions that have worked for you? Drop them in the comments below.
