Starting yesterday, the price of all development tools for the PSP has been effectively cut in half. The announcement comes from SN Systems, a subsidiary of Sony, who hopes the price reduction will make development on the portable more appealing. This info comes on the heels of the news that the development tools for the PS3 have also seen a 50% reduction in cost. According to Andy Beveridge, SN Systems director:
“Significantly reducing the cost of the tools will help to ensure that PSP game title developers have everything they need to continue creating great titles. This price reduction, coupled with the recent addition of Tuner (performance optimizer) to ProDG for PSP, makes the core development tool a very attractive package.”
So what does this mean for PSP owners? My guess: the occasional great title along with about a dozen budget titles. Hope you like puzzle games, cause there’s bound to be more on the way.
