Project Totem Wants to Mess With Your Mind

Press Play, the folks behind innovative platformer Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, are toying with the tried and true genre once again for their next game, Project Totem.

After reading the description in the press release, I’m still scratching my head on how this will work. Here’s how Press Play describes it: “Project Totem is a playful yet precise platforming game where players control two totem pole pieces with one controller. The challenge: the two pieces are not always on the same path.”

Sounds like a pat-your-head-rub-your-belly type of challenge.

“It is one of those games where the basic premise is hard to describe, but once you have the controller in your hand, it is so obviously fun that you immediately get it,” Studio Director Rune Dittmer said in a statement. “So when Asger and Bo showed us the prototype at a party, it was a no-brainer to give them some time to elaborate on the core concept. And now a year later we are proud to announce Press Play’s second game for Xbox One.”

It’s penciled in for launch on the Xbox One and 360 sometime this fall. Open your mind to Project Totem with the brilliant teaser trailer below:
