PS3 Exclusive Lair Completes Development

Lair E3 2007 Trailer

I’m not sure how “useful” most of the information that comes out on the Playstation blog is, but perhaps we can mark today as one of those rare occasions. According to the latest post, the PS3 exclusive Lair has completed development for its North American version. That’s great news, as this puts them on track for their scheduled August 14 release date. There’s no word on release dates for the worldwide versions, as the localization process is still unfinished.

I’m not sure how to feel about Lair. It’s pretty for sure, has some interesting flight mechanics, and I mean comon, what’s not to love about giant dragon battles. The simple fact that Factor 5 decided to create an original product rather than bring Star Wars: Rogue Squadron into the next-gen grates on my appreciation. We cannot blame them for wanting to make that proverbial “fat cash”, but the prospect of Star Wars space battles in an online setting just makes me feel all fuzzy. (Online attack/defend on the Death Star perhaps?)

Perhaps Lair will be great enough to make us forget the game that could have been. At the very least, this frees Factor 5 up for otherâ$¦ expected gaming ventures.
