PS3 Eye Used for Virtual Reality Desktop

When I first saw the Wii-mote and sensor bar used to track head movements for a desktop virtual reality program, I thought it was a great idea but unwieldy. Surely it could be done better… and it has.

Through use of a mod, you can run a head tracking program through the Sony PS3 using the Eye. Check it out.

Very cool stuff, and something we’ll probably see used in gaming in the near future.

If you take a look at the original Wii post here

http://news.filefront.com/nintendo-wii-johnny-lee-virtual-reality/

you will see a rather intelligent post from someone who said;

“In fact with the right software you could do what this video does with the PlayStation Eye without having to wear or mod anything.”

Unfortunately that visionary was then attacked for daring to suggest that it could be done better by Sony hardware :neutral:

The PSeye can sense movement and depth with the right software so you dont NEED to wear anything to do it.

lol… This is pretty cool. Much props for the will to flesh the idea out but, is it just me or is this guy a little creepy?
