PS4: List of Confirmed Titles Includes Witcher 3

Yesterday was the big Playstation 4 reveal from Sony! Aside from learning about the the technology within the console and the next-generation controller, Sony introduced a host of developers who were eager to share the stage and discuss what they were going to bring to the PS4.

We can tell you that the titles below are expected to be released on the PS4. What we can’t tell you is whether or not these are slated to be launch titles.

Developer: Ubisoft Montreal

Watch_Dogs is an upcoming game from Ubisoft which matches the open world feel from other Ubisoft titles like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. Players will be taking on the role of Aidan Pearce, hacker extraordinaire. With your smart phone, you’ll be hacking into Chicago’s main operating system with the ability to control just about anything. In the demo, Aidan was shown to have taken a gun from a car, observed meta data in game, listen in on a robbery in progress, and chasing the suspect through an alley before swiftly neutralizing them.

In order to evade capture from law enforcement, Aidan managed to hack a train to slow down enough for him to leap onto its roof and escape!

Diablo 3

Developer: Blizzard Entertainment

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night was seeing Chris Metzen on stage announcing the release of Diablo 3 on both the PS3 and the PS4. This marks the first foray for Blizzard back into the console world. The above screenshot shows how Diablo 3 will be adapted for the PS4 with an interface designed to work on controllers.

It was revealed in the post-announcement interview what the console ports would include. Diablo 3 will ship with all the content in the game up to patch 1.07. Naturally, the PS3 version of the game is farther along than the PS4 (they only saw the new controller for the first time in the day leading up to the PS4 reveal). Local co-op is not going to be split screen. It’s one big screen and the perspective will simply zoom out. Not much thought has been given yet on how to catch people up to Diablo 3′s story if they have never played the original Diablo or Diablo 2.

There was no confirmation nor denial of Diablo 3 coming to the Xbox 360.

I was hoping to see the machine itself, too. We’ll probably see it at E3, though.

I’m happy to see The Witcher 3 on this list, even if I’ll be getting the PC version. I have saves to transfer, after all.
