PSA: Mass Effect 3 Demo is Live, Including Multiplayer (If You Bought Battlefield 3)

The single-player and co-op demo for Mass Effect 3 is now live on Origin (as well as Xbox Live; Playstation 3 comes later today), allowing you to get a taste of what’s to come in BioWare’s trilogy-topping space opera.

Here’s the rub, however: You can play the single-player portions, which consist of the game’s opening and a later combat-heavy mission, but for co-op, you’ll need to have purchased Battlefield 3. If you haven’t, you’re on Team Wait Until Friday for Access.

If you did purchase Battlefield 3, then you just need your Origin account linked to the platform of your choice, like Xbox Live or the Playstation Network, in order to access the multiplayer demo. Hit this page to download it for PC (you’ll need to download Electronic Arts’ Origin service) If you’re not near your Xbox, you can queue up the download here.

We’ll be bringing you plenty of demo impressions in the coming hours and days. Meantime, here are our impressions of an earlier build of the demo, as seen at San Diego Comic-Con 2011.
