PSN Will Feature 8 AAA Games For Download At Launch

Sony’s ongoing efforts to make PSN actually a useful service are actually panning out, and I’m as shocked as I could possibly be about it. We’re just a few weeks from the fall/holiday season crush of AAA games and 8 of them – mostly, actually good games too – will be available for download on PSN the days they launch.

Rather than belabor the point, here’s what you’ll be able to download if you’re stuck using a PS3 as your primary gaming system:

* Resident Evil 6 becomes available for download on October 2nd for $59.99.
* NBA 2K13 becomes available for download on October 2nd for $59.99. PS plus members can get it for $53.99 if they preorder. (And if it’s as good as 2K12, then hell yes I want it.)
* Dishonored becomes available for download on October 9th for $59.99. PS Plus members can pre order it for $53.99.
* DOOM 3: BFG Edition becomes available for download on October 16th for $39.99. A PS Plus preorder brings it down to $35.99.
* 007: Legends becomes available for download on October 16th for $59.99. (No PS Plus discount).
* Medal Of Honor: Warfighter becomes available for download on October 23rd – $59.99. (No PS Plus discount.)
* Need For Speed: Most Wanted becomes available for download on October 30th for $59.99. PS Plus members get a preorder discount of $53.99.
* Finally, Assassin’s Creed III becomes available for download on October 30th for $59.99. (No PS Plus discount.)

This may not be enough to stop some of their other decisions from seeming silly, but it’s nice to see Sony trying to make Playstation 3 worth the hassle of having to constantly install new updates.

Let’s not forget Borderlands 2 being available at launch too this month. All pretty nice even though I prefer buying retail.
