In Michigan, a middle school boy’s legs were burned when the PSP he had in his pockets caught fire. Police said later that the device apparently overheated and exploded, burning a hole in his pants before a teacher was able to get it away from the boy. He was treated for minor burns and sent to a local hospital. Unfortunately, there’s no word at this time on how exactly the PSP overheated that much — although there have been reports in the past of PSP batteries exploding. Until then though, you might want to be wary about that PSP in your pocket, since it might set your pants on fire. And there is definitely a “that’s what she said” joke in there somewhere.

Sony have had a few problems with batteries in the past but they always issue recalls when a faults found. AFAIK all faults with PSPare third party ones

It’s not Sony’s fault. It’s the idiots who don’t know anything about heat, electronics, and battery chemicals.

The battery was the orignial Sony one…so it wasnt even a 3rd party battery. And it was off…but if you think about- even if it was on, the damn thing shouldnt have got that hot. Poor little boy, looks like Sony will be paying up a couple million
