PSP2 to Feature 3G, OLED Screen

We all know that Sony is (most likely) set to reveal the PSP2 later this week, in an event on Thursday. Getting in ahead of Sony is a Japanese newspaper, Nikkei, that is reporting some new details of the soon-to-be-formally-announced handheld.

First off, the hand held will reportedly feature 3G connectivity, raising the possibility of a companion data plan on a network somewhere. It also means that downloads and access to PSN could be available virtually anywhere, and not just at wifi hotspots.

The second piece of news is that the PSP2 is built with an OLED touch screen. OLED screens produce some pretty amazing images, so a handheld sporting one of those puppies could be quite awesome.

Still, it still all falls squarely into the rumor category. IF Thursday’s announcement is the PSP2, and IF Sony shares all the info, we’ll be able to evaluate all these rumors and tally up the scoreboard. Until then, we’re still just making wild guesses.
