Purported Dishonored 2 Fact Sheet Appears Online
Earlier today, a fact sheet that supposedly details Dishonored 2 popped up online. But is it real, or just make believe?
The purported fact sheet (which appears at the bottom of this article) lays out the details of the as-yet-unannounced sequel, and according to VG247, the source that provided the sheet to them said that the sheet would be distributed, “at the end of March officially to the press.”
When the off-screen photo that appeared to show the Dishonored 2 logo showed up on Monday, Bethesda told us, “We don’t comment on rumor and speculation.” We’ve reached out to them about this new image, but have not yet received a response.
Still, there’s a lot to be skeptical of in this image. First off, that 2016 release date. That seems an awful long time to wait for a game that’ll be revealed in June, especially from a studio whose last game released over a year ago. Then there’s the switch to the id Tech 5 engine. While that’s not out of the realm of possibility, especially since Bethesda owns that engine, it seems odd that Arkane would move all the assets and the tech off the Unreal Engine the first game utilized.
Finally, there’s that mention of the Doom beta. We already know that you can gain access to the Doom beta by pre-ordering Wolfenstein: The New Order, but that’s a game that’s due out on May 20. If everyone who pre-orders Dishonored 2 is also getting into that beta, it would seem to suggest that the next Doom won’t materialize until after Dishonored 2. Obviously that is entirely possible, but given the association of Doom with the soon-to-release Wolfenstein, it just seems…odd. Add to that the fact that no one, not even VG247, has claimed to be able to authenticate the sheet.
Still, it’s interesting, and since we were fond of the first game, we’ll keep a close on any developments that may serve to confirm a sequel. Until we can confirm or disprove it, take a few minutes to check out our ideas for what we want to see in Dishonored 2.
