Puzzle Quest, Dead Head Fred and More Coming to PSP Store

Gaming Today

Each week, PlayStation Portable owners watch as more and more content is released on the PlayStation Store for those on PlayStation 3 while the PlayStation Store for PC (which is where all of the PSP’s downloadable content is made available) gets but a mere fraction of that content. Over the next month, D3Publisher will be making those weekly updates a bit brighter by releasing a number of their PSP games — including fine games such as the original Puzzle Quest and Dead Head Fred — on the PlayStation Store for PC.

Unlike many of the PSP games originally released on UMD that end up on the Store, these are all very reasonably priced, ranging from $9.99 to $14.99. Cube ($10) and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords ($15) will release on September 18; WTF: work time fun ($10) and PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient ($10) will release on October 2; Practical Intelligent Quotient 2 ($15) and Dead Head Fred ($15) will release on October 16.

D3 might not be Electronic Arts or Activision, but hopefully other companies will still choose to follow their example and begin releasing their back catalogs on the PlayStation Store. For games that have run their course at retail this would be a second wind of sorts, and it would also be an attractive alternative to people who might otherwise purchase used copies — which we all know is of no monetary benefit to the developer and publisher.
