QuakeCon To See Revival of ‘Classic PC Shooter’

A “classic” PC shooter franchise is getting a reboot to be announced at QuakeCon 2012, according to a tweet from a PR official working with the convention.
The tease from Evolve PR’s Twitter account reads as follows: “Going to QuakeCon? We’ll be revealing the revival of a much-loved classic PC shooter at the show. What could it be?” The tweet has kicked off speculation that Quake 5 could be revealed at the convention, although that seems unlikely because Evolve PR doesn’t do public relations for id Software or Bethesda Softworks. Evolve itself has said that Quake is not involved in its tease.
It’s possible, however, that the game could be something else being farmed out to a new developer — maybe Commander Keen? A new Doom title (it’s generally assumed that Doom 4 is getting an official announcement at the con)? Or one of the many games that now falls under the Bethesda publishing umbrella?
What do you guys think?

Hexen or Heretic would be great. DOOM 4 would probably be the most likely, unless they want to make another Wolfenstein.

I’d love to see a return of Hexen/Heretic

They’ve already announced that there will be a remake of Doom 3. I’m betting it’s nothing more than this.

I can say with confidence that it’s not Doom 3. There is a Doom 3 BFG Edition, but that’s already a known game; it’s also playable at the con. Gotta be something else.
