Quartermann Rumors: CoD5 in 2009, New Killer Instinct Coming to 360

With the July issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly set to attack your mailboxes, we’ve got an early look at some of the Quartermann rumors you’ll find.

Xbox 360 owners should be on the lookout for the resurrection of an old Rare franchise — Killer Instinct. The developer is reportedly at work on a new game in the series, known as Killer Instinct 3D: Death, Destruction, and Doom. Sporting full-on 3D graphics, the game is still “rather early” but looks “promising,” according to those-who-shall-not-be-named.

First-person shooter gamers will want to take a close look at the Qmann’s column for a number of interesting tidbits. First and foremost, the upcoming Call of Duty 5 apparently won’t be out by the end of this year, and will instead be released next February. Remember, this game is being developed by Treyarch, not Infinity Ward, so perhaps the extra development time will help this game live up to the series’ name more than Call of Duty 3 did.

Next year will also see a new entry in Call of Duty‘s rival series, Medal of Honor. Naturally, the game will look to capitalize on the success Call of Duty 4 is having with its Middle East setting, with the game taking place in Afghanistan. The Spec Ops series from 2K will also be getting rebooted with a Middle Eastern twist, as the game will take place in Dubai.

Subscribers should be getting the new EGM any day now, with newsstands seeing it soon after.

killer instinct was the ! i remember preordering for the black cartridge. at the time, it had the best graphics, the best music, and THE most annoying combo button requirements but it was SO worth it to pull off Orchid’s 20-something hit combo and knock someone off the roof on that office rooftop level. i even had the special soundtrack CD made for the game! oh, 1996. i miss you, lol.

I hope the orignal comes to the xbox live marketplace, loved the arcade version. I think the killer cuts music cd was the stuff but, i did not like how the game on the snes looked, wish the game came out quicker like it should of been made on ps2 or xbox, it would of been able top be made on those systems, and look like it did in the arcade
