Radeon HD7800 Pre-Orders Live

AMD has launched its Radeon HD7850 and HD7870 graphics cards, which you can now pre-order. Early reviews have the HD7870 matching, if not beating, the more expensive GeForce 570 and Radeon HD6970, while the HD7950 seems to have a clear edge over the GeForce 560Ti in most games, but the 560Ti can be found for bargain prices. These Radeon cards may not always beat the current competition, but their tech makes them the safer future-proofing option.

The HD7800s are essentially less powerful versions of the 7900s, but are slightly more affordable, at ~$300. The HD7870 has 1280 individual shader cores, along with 80 texture units and 32 ROPS. The shader cores run at a flat 1GHz, paired with 2GB of GDDR5 memory running at the equivalent of 4.8GHz. The HD7850 is essentially a HD7870 with 1024 shaders, 64 texture units and 32 ROPS.

Have these cards made it onto your wishlist?

Since you raised the question…

It would be better to wait for Kepler to arrive and then find out which side to buy, because, you never know and competition is good for us.

But, if you need a video card right now, then buy one of the new Radeons.
