RAGE DLC ‘The Scorchers’ Coming Tomorrow

Id Software’s post-apocalyptic shooter RAGE is getting a new piece of DLC content just in time for the holidays, for some reason.

Dubbed “The Scorchers,” it’s going to have a few interesting tidbits — notably, an “Ultra-Nightmare” difficulty mode that should take the challenge up a notch, and an “extended play” feature that will let players continue past the game’s ending, so you can continue to drive buggies, kill gangs of bad guys and gather achievements.

In addition to that stuff, the DLC also has its own content and features, like new weapons. Here’s the rundown care of Bethblog:

In this brand-new adventure spanning six all-new areas, you will fight alongside new allies to defend the Hager Settlment from a maniacal bandit clan known as The Scorchers. Along the way, you’ll participate in a new season of Mutant Bash TV, encounter new mini-games, and wield the overpowering and brutal Nailgun.

Cool thing is, The Scorchers will only run you $5, or 400 MS Points. Provided, that is, that you still have the game.

Awesome. I’ve always maintained that RAGE has the foundations to be a great game, just needs more content. Going by the description given, this appears to be a lot of stuff for not very much money. Granted, a lot of PC gamers (myself included) feel that some form of mea culpa is due from Id over the botched PC launch, but Carmack has already been quite apologetic about the whole thing and promised to do better in the future (hint hint, EA/Bioware…a little more humility and a little less corporate greed would have saved you a world of trouble). This is just icing on the cake.
I’ll verify first that the DLC is actually what it claims to be before purchasing (again, thanks to ME3 for that shift in my electronic entertainment purchasing procedures), but as long as it checks out, I’ll be buying.

Forced to agree. Good attitude. Also, the price point for the (apparent) amount of content sounds incredibly reasonable. Might be a reason to dust of RAGE.

THIS is how you do dlc. And I personally loved Rage and do, in fact, still have it on my laptop.

I am excited for this, I really enjoyed this game. It is a fantastic corridor shooter. I think people expected more of a Fallout or Borderlands style game but it was pure ID corridor meyhem at its best. It’s only $10 or so @ gamestop, worth picking up in my opinion.
