Rage Easy Money Glitch

Anyone that’s lived in the post-apocalypse knows money is hard to come by — for you, that is. Shopkeepers seem to have an endless supply of the stuff. They’re not using it, so why not cheat the economy and grab yourself a chunk of quick cash? Below you’ll find a simple method to make over 200$ in ten seconds. It’s repeatable, and it’s just so easy, you won’t want to pass it up.

In other wasteland news, you can check out our full text and video walkthrough for an in-depth guide helping you survive the future. For more secrets, tips, tricks, and help, you can check out our Rage cheats page.

Easy Money Glitch

  1. In the Ghost Hideout, you can find a respawning Comet Bloom flower. Find it before crossing the bridge, and look right.
  2. For a more detailed description — when driving to the Ghost Hideout, your car will be stopped by metal poles. You’ll have to get out of your car to run through the poles and turn right to reach a bridge. Before reaching the bridge, there’s a path with elevated edges. On the right side of this path, you can spot a little cactus with purple flowers. It’s very easy to miss.
  3. Pick one up, then leave the Ghost Hideout. When you come back, another will be there in it’s place. Grab as many as you want, or just take ten. We understand you’re busy people and don’t have time to pick flowers all day, so ten is a nice round number.
  4. Now, go to Halek Hagar in the Hagar Settlement and sell those flowers for 65$ each. That’s a healthy profit, but there’s still more money making opportunities.
  5. Don’t leave yet, buy back those flowers at the reduced cost of 43$. Then sell all ten back again for 65$. That’s a 22$ profit per flower, and with ten, you’ll be making 220$ each time.
  6. When you’re done, simply buy back the flowers and hang onto them in your inventory. If you sell them to a vendor and leave, they’ll disappear from the vendor’s item stock. Better to hang onto all ten flowers, so you can repeat this glitch for easy cash later in the game.
  7. Play the Missing Person quest, clear our the hideout, but don’t turn the quest in. Enter the hideout and leave, the flower should repawn. — Thanks to Cerunnos for the tip!

How do you get the Comet Bloom to respawn? I tried loading into the nearby Ghost Hideout and back out into the Wasteland, but the flower did not respawn.

Halek Hagar DOES in fact pay more for a Comet Bloom than he charges you to buy it back from him. I just want to know how to get more flowers to make it go faster!

Try going deeper into the Ghost Hideout, then running back across the bridge, some people say that works for them.

On October 13, 2011 at 7:13 pm

That’s not a glitch that items respawn.
Besides it’s not hard to make money in the game at all.

Does this work at any store?

On October 14, 2011 at 5:51 pm

This has been patched. it no longer respwans. when you try to sell it at Hagars it sells for 35 and to buy it ,its 48. PATCHED!

On October 14, 2011 at 6:55 pm

I have to disagree with AJ this has not been patched! I just tried it and it worked for me. I would pick the flower then go into the hideout and turn around a come straight out and the flower would be there again.

On October 14, 2011 at 10:49 pm

I just tried this and it doesn’t respawn anymore. I even tried going into the hideout and loading it back and driving really far away and it never respawns.

On October 14, 2011 at 11:33 pm

i cant even find the damn flower.. i looked all over on both sides of the bridge

On October 15, 2011 at 5:38 am

Easiest way I have found to get the flower to respawn is to pick it then drive away to the Ark Sewer Entrance and then drive back. Pick the flower drive back to the sewer enter it and re exit.

If your feeling upto it or to tone down the boring grind run through the sewer and loot the corpses for some cash as well. They will be come lootable every time you re enter the sewers.

Pffft I can get 500 CREDITS IN TEN SECONDS just by blowing bandit cars.

On October 15, 2011 at 11:27 pm

you need the suit for 5% discount from vendors for cheaper buy-back

On October 15, 2011 at 11:29 pm

btw the flower is before the bridge a little behind a rock

On October 16, 2011 at 6:56 pm

Where exactly is this flower can someone give me a screen shot or a very detailed description?

Saying it’s by the bridge is misleading. It is on the way to the bridge. You will see a blue crushed car on your left on the way to the bridge and to your immediate right is the purple flower.

On October 21, 2011 at 5:41 am

I am guessing this was taken out? I have yet to find anything that even resembles a flower, let alone something I can pick… Do you have to have a certain skill to pick it?

On October 21, 2011 at 7:28 am

It is now there, it seems you must first visit wellspring, and bring the supplies back to Dan before you can pick this baby!!!

On October 21, 2011 at 7:31 am

Also, running into the hideout and then coming back out works for me, to respawn the bloom. On the PS3 after the update.

On October 22, 2011 at 10:10 am

Just tried it today. Though I was unsuccessful at getting the flower to respawn on the PS3 it does sell for 65 and can be repurchased for 45. It is monotonous but I now have 6,000 minigun rounds and a ton of personal rounds. Next to buy all recipes and armor upgrades.

On October 22, 2011 at 1:36 pm

Cant find it….

On October 22, 2011 at 7:51 pm

I tried this today and was able to find the bloom, I’m about 1/4 of the way into the game for reference. I was unsuccessful in finding a quick way to respawn the bloom but can confirm for the 360 that it sells for 65 and you can buy it back for 45, slow but at least it’s something.

The best I read to find the bloom is to park your car by the blockade and then run straight. You should see a smashed up blue car. If you walk up to that and turn 180, looking backwards, you should see a bush and small cactus in a curve in the rock ledge, the sign in the background almost lines up with it. This is where the bloom spawns, on the small cactus.

On October 23, 2011 at 5:18 pm

Finally got it to spawn 1x how do you get it to respawn?

On October 23, 2011 at 8:50 pm

I just cleared the ghost hideout for the missing person quest. The quest has not been turned in. The comet bloom respawns by going into hideout and leaving

On October 26, 2011 at 8:55 am

I was havin the same respawn problem no matter how far i travelled away or went in and out of the ghost hideout or how far i went in but i figured out the problem i was having…. i picked the flower then went to complete the quest…. but then i done the quest first then came out and picked it and behold… it respawns everytime… hope this helps some u guys who ave had same problem.

On November 3, 2011 at 8:15 pm

On November 3, 2011 at 8:17 pm

On November 4, 2011 at 10:06 am

I’ve finally got this to work yesterday, been trying since the game came out (don’t get to play that much obviously). Anyway I wish I knew the factor that makes it work but I just don’t know why.

So here’s everything I know/did. I have a PS3 running the un-updated version of the game. When it prompts me that there is an update I hit the “O” to cancel. Don’t know if that matters or not.

I noticed this purple Comet Bloom the first time Dan Hagar sent me to the Ghost Hideout. I picked then, which was why I originally thought I ruined the opportunity for it to respawn (some of the other posts on the web say don’t pick it right away). Also at this point I checked with Halek Hagar and the (1) Comet Bloom did not make a profit by selling it and buying it back, so I thought it was patched for sure. So I just decided to keep playing the game with just the (1) Comet Bloom. No easy money glitch.

I’ve completed all the main quest task up to the task just after you complete the The Wellmaster/Hijacked quest in Wellspring. After you retrieve the toxin you are asked by the Wellmaster to take it to Kvasir. This is where I’m at right now, “Take the Toxin to Kvasir” is my open/uncompleted task.

I’ve also done all the job board jobs in Wellspring, including the missing person job that had me return to the Ghost Hideout and the one where I clean out the Ark Sewers again. I don’t know if these are factors or not but I did complete all of them.

So back to Take the Toxin to Kvasir, during this task I thought let’s check the Comet Blossom again so I took a detour and drove back to the Ghost hideout for the millionth time and low and behold the Comet Blossom wasn’t there again!!! MF’er!! But since I was there and because some of the posts said go into the ghost hideout and come out I tried that, still not there. So I figured why I was here I’d try the other suggestions on the posts to make it respawn, go to the Ark Sewer entrance (the one with the Old Man and the Tent next to it, although the old man is only there the first time you go in).

I figured I would enter the sewer and come out like I did at the Ghost hideout. The first thing I noticed when I entered was that it was swarming with mutants, they did not see me yet because I was by the door but there was a ton there. This was new because I already cleared it on a previous mission and cleared it again for the job board; neither time was there as many as there were now. Just for a few extra bucks there is a corpse right by the door (ladder and porthole) to the sewer, when I entered I walked the few steps and got the money off the corpse (7-10 dollars) then went back to the door (ladder and porthole) before the mutants saw me. Now I was back in the wasteland, so I went back down near the Ghost Hideout Bridge Area to look for the Comet Bloom…

So I then started a pattern of going to the Ark Sewer, Entering, Grabbing the cash on the close corpse, exiting the sewer, returning to the Ghost Hideout Bridge Area, and every time now the Comet Bloom was there (respawned). Just so everyone knows this is not a quick process, because of the loading and buying and selling. It took me at least 30 minutes to get (25) Comet Blooms. At that point I couldn’t do it anymore I was too bored. So I went the Hagar Complex to try and make some money.

Now the other problem, the sale and buy back. I don’t remember if I had the discounted suit on or not the first time I tried to sale and buy it back when there was no profit, but this time it worked like a charm. Sales for $65, buy it back for $43, a $22 profit on each one. Jackpot.

So that’s everything I did, hope it helps. By no means is it a quick process though.

On November 9, 2011 at 7:42 pm

Tried this on the 360 today and it works. Although I had to go into the sewers to get the flower to respawn it was worth it. This glitch also works when you get to the eastern wastelands if you head out of subway town and head north toward the jackal territory then go west at the red face on the canyon wall. just before the gate there are 3 of them (2 on the right side of the gate, 1 sneaky one tucked in around on the left) on the SOUTH side of the gate. to get these to respawn I just kept driving back to town but if you go into the jackal den it works too, just a bit slower. with 50 of these you can max out all your ammo and supplies in around 15 minutes. Enjoy!

On November 15, 2011 at 1:45 pm

did this trick last night on an xbox360, with updated files. easiest thing to do was to run down the bridge, enter the ghost hideout and exit, run back up the hill and the flower is back. i have done the ‘missing person’ mission already, and turned it also so i dont think that mission has a bearing on this trick. for those having a hard time finding the flower, the best suggestion i can make is to stand directly infront of the hood of the wrecked blue car, facing the car and the low ledge behind the car…rotate your aim to the left about 45degrees and you will see the cluster of purple flowers tucked into a crevice behind a low rock ledge on the left side (facing away from the ghost hideout) of the path. really the only thing limiting this trick seems to be the amount of patience one has with running back and forth and awaiting the load times. i managed 15 before i started to nod off lol, but at 22*15, thats 330creds each sell/buyback cycle. i plan to go back and lift a bunch more tonight. just one tip…be careful hitting the button to sell them, because once you sell them all it automatically begins selling the next item in your inventory, as i found out the hard way. i dont know what i sold but once you do this trick a few times its a no-brainer to stock up on everything available to purchase…

On November 25, 2011 at 3:15 pm

You can also go to Jani’s supplies and sell the comet bloom found in the eastern wasteland for $65 and buy it back for $45. Like pitbreedr said above, there are 3 plants if you go east at the red face on the wall and follow the road around to the big gate with the red, white, and black symbol on it. And it regenerates if you pick it, then go back in the jackal caves, then turn right around and come back out of the jackal caves and it will be available to pick again and you can do it over and over. Thanks Pitbreedr!

On November 25, 2011 at 3:16 pm

I meant “west” at the red face on the wall. Sorry!!!

On January 3, 2012 at 9:38 pm

i found a good way to make the flower respawn was going inside and killing one mutant, then when you go back outside the ghost hideout is says if you leave you will lose all progress, this respawns noth the inside and appears to respawn the outside causing the flower to respawn

On January 5, 2012 at 1:48 pm

Um so new to dis siteand sorry bout ruinin da convo on da cool glitch but I was wondern if any of yall know if you can go back to the wasteland with ur ark when you left with the resistance to subway city?

On January 7, 2012 at 6:38 am

For get I askd I found da way back made me dumb as hell I didn’t try the blimp sooner.

On February 5, 2012 at 5:28 pm

Playing on PS3 with current updated patch. Could not get the flower outside Ghost to respawn. But this does work with just one flower. At Halek Hagar sell it for $65 and buy back for $45, do not leave store just alternate back and forth with square button. $20 profit each time and is faster than waiting for load times IMO. Make sure to keep flower in your inventory when you leave.

Then go to Wellspring and save in front of Tombstones mini board game. Bet max $25 every time and go for the 10x or 4x bonus. If you lose all your money, just load save. You will get the 10x a few times easy though!

On February 8, 2012 at 10:33 pm

you can also do this in the eastern wasteland to the right of the big gearhead vault door (where you had to pick the flower for that chinese looking dude) i can confirm if you pick the 2 comet bloom flowers there 1 of them constantly respawns if you head bk to subway town and bk again.

On February 13, 2012 at 10:53 am

A surefire way for this to respawn every time is this:

Ghost Hideout and Wasted Garage both need to be completely cleared out.

How to? Go to Wellspring job board and do Missing Persons (return to Ghost Hideout), don’t pick the flower yet, finish the mission. When you leave pick the Comet Bloom flower for the first time.

Go back to the job board and do the two sniper missions (mutant and caravan). Then do the Stolen bottle mission on job board (return to Wasted Garage).

When you finish clearing the garage go enter Ghost hideout. Now every time you leave the hideout the flower will respawn.

On February 25, 2012 at 3:44 am

Regarding the comet blooms. do the gearhead slaughter mission. then leave the area. take your vehicle to the road on the right. you will be looking at a authority gate. look to the right and you will see that there is two comet blooms. pick them both. go back into the gearhead area then leave again. return to the comet bloom area. ther will be two comet blooms again. It will continue to be two blooms if you follow this process. if you turn in the quest only one will respawn. all of this takes place in the eastern wastelands (section 3 of the game)

On February 25, 2012 at 3:47 am

Also for the people that paid attention the missing person quest that people are talking about on here is the one from wellsprings. not one of the first missing person quest (where is Juno)…

On February 25, 2012 at 4:10 am

Other money (glitches) Talk to Stew in subway town. Buy the first thing he sells you (and alot of them) Rockets, as many as you can buy. sell them to Jani the vendor. go buy more from Stew (rinse and repeat). later stew will sell HE grenades (although small profit) Sell to Jani the vendor again Rinse and repeat. Get the picture

On March 7, 2012 at 11:34 am

I can absolutely confirm these things about this glitch (ps3) :

It will not re spawn even after you completely clear the ghost hideout and wasted garage. It would re spawn for me only after I cleared the Authority Prison (it could may have been after the Well mission I didn’t check).

So again, this doesn’t work until either you clear the Well or the Authority Prison. Not just the Hideout and the Wasted Garage. Maybe someone can clear up the rest.

On March 8, 2012 at 2:39 am

When you get to the Eastern Wasteland you will get a quest from an old man in Subtown asking you to get Comet Bloom. The Comet Bloom is right next to Jackal Canyon and respawns everytime you leave and re-enter the wasteland. A good time to do it is when you get the mission from Marshall to go to the Canyon. That way you have a place close by to go into.

On May 5, 2012 at 10:57 pm

will it work on xbox 360

On June 21, 2012 at 12:37 pm

Hello, so I’ve been trying to replicate this glitch as described but I couldn’t seem to get it to work until late into the game, but at least it hasn’t been patched (Xbox360 as of 6/21/12).

First, when you’re given the Ghost Hideout Mission, the Comet Bloom won’t even be there because it hasn’t ‘bloomed’ yet.
Continue the game until you get to Wellspring and get the Mission from the Job board “Missing Person”. It will have you return to the Ghost Hideout, but DON’T pick the Comet Bloom yet. Complete the Ghost Hideout again for the Job and before getting in your Buggy PICK the Comet Bloom.
Continue with the game like normal until you are given the Job “Recover ID Drive”, which will be late into Disc 1.
Collect your ID and then return to the Comet Bloom outside the Ghost Hideout. Now SAVE your game and PICK the Comet Bloom. Run across the bridge and enter the Ghost Hideout. Return to Wasteland, cross the bridge and return to the Comet Bloom. PICK the Comet Bloom, run across the bridge, enter the Ghost Hideout, rinse and repeat.

I tried checking to see if the Comet Bloom had ‘bloomed’ again several times during the story, but it never ‘re-bloomed’ for me until the Job “Recover ID Drive”. Hope this helps. :]

On January 16, 2014 at 7:14 am

How do you even buy stuff back?!

On July 5, 2014 at 3:46 pm

Something is missing from the instructions. There are several versions of this game. Which one are you using?
Other instructions found elsewhere state that you much have the crimson armor.
An update would be acceptable.
