Red Dead Redemption Short Film Hits FOX This Weekend

Just to prove that Red Dead Redemption is truly everywhere right now, it looks like FOX will be airing a 30 minute short film created in the game this weekend.

Created and directed by John Hillcoat, director of The Proposition and The Road, this short film will show off the story of John Marston trying to track down his former friend and partner, Bill Williamson.

The show is scheduled to air at midnight Eastern and Pacific, but I’d check your local listings anyway. You never know what your local station may decide to do with it. While I’m not a huge fan of films based on video games, this is the first time I can remember a film hitting TV that was created entirely with in-game assets. That alone makes it worth setting the DVR for.

Now what other games could we make in-game movies from? How about……Left 4 Dead! I’d love to see someone make a prequel film that shows off how the survivors got together in the first place.
