“Release GTA 5 on PC” Is The Biggest Gaming Petition Ever
Currently sitting at 548,000-plus signatures and counting, Change.org has confirmed that the “Rockstar: Release GTA 5 on PC” petition is the largest gaming-related petition the site has ever hosted. It’s also the sixth-largest global petition of any kind to grace the site.
There’s no doubt in my mind that a PC version of GTA 5 is coming, and I’d like to think that most of the petition signers know that, too. We will probably see next-gen and PC versions of Rockstar’s latest announced at the same time, with a release date in the first half of 2014.
Rockstar wants GTA 5 on the PC to look as good as it possibly can, so using the same high-res textures on the PC that we will likely see in the next-gen SKUs is a smart decision from a developer’s point of view. On the other hand, many (myself included) think Rockstar should have released a PC version from the get-go, high-res textures or not, and patched in enhancements along the way. The strategy worked pretty well for Skyrim, right?
