In addition to the numerous Final Fantasy remakes Square-Enix plans to dole out soon, they recently announced their plans to do the same with the Dragon Quest series. During a Q&A session, president Yoichi Wada told the crowd of the company’s plans to start releasing these remakes this year:
“This summer, we’ll release Battle Road in arcades and Sword for the Wii. Following that, we’re thinking of a release for 9 once we’ve released remake versions and so forth.”
The most recent rumors are that the first remake will be of Dragon Quest IV on the DS. Guess we’ll just have to see how it all pans out.

It’s about time we got some Dragon Quest remakes. Now that the American market’s eyes have been open to Dragon Quest, it would be best to remake the classic games.
