Remedy Co-Founder Joins Up with Angry Birds Creator
Can’t say I’m happy about this one.
One of the co-founders of the Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment has left the company to join up with als0-Finnish developer Rovio Mobile, with the plan of bringing Angry Birds to (more) consoles.
Up first, it seems, is an Angry Birds version for the Nintendo 3DS, according to VG247. Rovio mentioned on Twitter that it plans to make all three of its Angry Birds games currently on mobile platforms — the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and the forthcoming Angry Birds Rio — available as digital downloads for Nintendo’s new portable.
Petri Järvilehto of Remedy will be at the forefront of Rovio’s attempts to bring its powerhouse mobile game to new markets. The game became available on the Playstation Network to download last month, and a Wii version of the game has also been planned for a while now.
Järvilehto remains on Remedy’s board of directors, but his departure could have a big effect on Remedy’s line up of future games — including any kind of follow-up to Alan Wake. He led initial game design on that project and was the leader in development of Max Payne 1 and 2 by the studio.
