Remedy Confirms More Alan Wake But Not Alan Wake 2

Remedy Entertainment has confirmed there will be more Alan Wake — and soon — but whatever the company is working on, it’s not a direct sequel to its Xbox 360 psychological thriller.

“Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake instalment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC,” said Remedy’s head of franchise development, Oskari Hakkinen, speaking with Eurogamer.

Later in the interview, Eurogamer floated the idea that the new Alan Wake title might be Kinect-enabled, but Remedy wouldn’t confirm or deny that information or that we’ll be seeing this new bit of Wake at E3 next month.

The rumor of an Alan Wake follow-up first hit the streets yesterday, when a Remedy artist’s LinkedIn profile listed him as working on Alan Wake 2. Now the game is confirmed, but with limited details.

Here’s a relevant quote from Hakkinen from Eurogamer’s story.

‘It’s something that’ll definitely give more to the Wake fans out there, but just as importantly, this installment will also give an opportunity for players who aren’t familiar with the franchise to finally jump on board,’ he added. ‘We can’t wait to show you more, bear with us. Release dates, platforms and pricing are unconfirmed as of yet, but Fall 2011 is probably a good guess.’

Are you excited? I’m excited.
