Report: Crytek Source Says Next Generation of Xbox To Be Revealed at E3 2012

Take this with a grain of salt.

Videogamer is reporting that a source within Crytek has revealed that Microsoft will reveal the next generation of Xbox console within the next year and that an E3 announcement is likely. The source also says that Crytek UK, formerly Free Radical, is working on Timesplitters 4 on CryEngine 3 for the system. They say the design for the new console hasn’t be finalized but that the company is working with DirectX 11 architecture on the Timesplitters sequel.

The source says the game‘s visuals are markedly better than anything that current-generation consoles would be able to produce.

Grains of salt all around, but I kinda believe this. I don’t know why I believe this, but I do. A 2013 console launch for Microsoft doesn’t seem like that big a stretch, really. Here’s hoping whatever it is will come in shiny black so it’ll match all the other stuff in my entertainment center.
