Report: GameStop to Start Buying Old iPads, iPods, iPhones and Selling Them

GameStop is getting into the mobile sphere and is willing to trade in-store credit for old iPhones, iPods and iPads, according to a report from 9to5Mac.

The Apple news site claims it has heard from multiple GameStop sources that the retailer intends to start purchasing used Apple products, refurbishing them and reselling them. Resales are the primary way in which GameStop makes money, although it makes a lot more money from its used game business than used hardware.

GameStop made the announcement that it would start carrying Apple mobile products last week at a Las Vegas trade conference. It makes sense that GameStop would go one step further, and apparently those trade-ins are being accepted right now according to rumors. So if you’ve got old Apple products collecting dust, you now have an alternative to eBay — just be aware that GameStop will likely pay you an insane amount less than they’ll be selling it back for.
