Report Says Apple Will Announce a New iPhone on Oct. 4
If you’re a mobile gamer, you probably already get the significance of the new iPhone, which is expected to pack the iPad’s A5 chip as its processor and will therefore be better equipped to handle gaming. Apple’s iOS mobile platform has seen a lot of ports from the PC world in the last year, with games like Machanarium and Anomaly: Warzone Earth showing up on the iPad and iPhone.
Apart from the new iPhone, the announcement will be significant for the release of iOS 5, which includes features that will allow users to mirror the screens of their iPhones and iPads on services like Apple TV. Some have speculated that features like that could help Apple become a de facto player in the console wars, with the ability to make better games that it can easily play up on TVs.
We’ll have to wait and see if that’s the case, but the huge explosion of the mobile sphere has seen more than a few companies, such as Electronic Arts, refocus to make sure they get a piece of it. If Apple finds a good way of insinuating itself into your living room, the landscape could change even further.
