Resident Evil 4 HD Goes Live on Playstation Network, Xbox Live (TRAILER)

In my excitement over the re-re-release of Resident Evil 4this time in HD! — I’m going to go ahead and make a contentious statement: Resident Evil 4 is the best survival horror game ever. Yup.

It was certainly a landmark game, a damn fine reason to own a GameCube (until it started showing up on the PS2 — blast!), a phenomenal reboot of the languishing series and generally spooky in general. The first time I found myself surrounded by Los Ganados in Pueblo, running out of ammo, running to the second story of a house and barricading the door only to find the mob breaking through the door and coming through the windows — that was intensity. I fled to the second floor, finding myself at a dead end, and dove out the window to escape, only to find even more villagers waiting. It was only the ringing of the church bell, calling off the attackers, that saved my life.

Classic. Video game. Moment.

Anyway, Resident Evil 4 is now available on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network, and if you haven’t played it, you definitely, definitely should. Meanwhile, you can debate me in the comments about how bad you think Resident Evil 4 sucks (but I’ve noticed that many of you seem to have hearts of stone and love nothing), and enjoy the launch trailer below.
