Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Splatters PCs on May 18

In a trend-bucking release, Capcom has announced that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will show up on PCs slightly earlier than the game‘s console release.

The developer announced that the non-cannon four-player cooperative title set during the events of Resident Evil 2 is hitting PCs on May 18, with the console versions launching two days later on May 20. It also revealed what kind of features PC players can expect to see in their version of the game: namely, Nvidia 3D Vision support. Plus there’s the standard fare features the game will have for everyone, which include eight-player multiplayer support and four-player online campaign play.

If you’re not familiar with RE: Operation Raccoon City, is an upcoming addition to the Resident Evil series that puts a handful of Umbrella commandos into Raccoon City during the massive zombie outbreak that takes place in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Each different character has different special abilities, and players are tasked with gunning down zombies and carrying out the Umbrella Corporation’s evil wishes. We played a bit at E3 2011 and had a good time of it.

Wow, this is shocking. Not only that it’s actually coming to PC, but it’s out earlier than consoles.

I like this.
