Respawn Entertainment E3 Announcement is Fake

picard-facepalm

Yesterday, the internet was all aflutter about a Facebook post on an account named “Vince Zampella and Jason West.” The post announced that the newly formed Respawn Entertainment (which recently signed on with EA Partners) would have a “big time announcement at E3 next week.”

Once it broke, it was picked up all over the place and repeated as gospel. Speculation was rampant, covering the gamut from a new Modern Warfare title to a new IP.

Well, once again, the speculation is short-lived and pointless. The Facebook account is a fake, which becomes apparent once you look back through the prior postings. I highly doubt that West and Zampella would refer to a company they are currently involved in a legal battle with as selfish. It would be decidedly counterproductive. I also think they would proofread their updates a bit more.

Regardless, EA has confirmed that this is not an official page in any way. So, don’t be looking for any big Respawn news next week. We shouldn’t be surprised, since the studio was just founded about 8 weeks ago.

So, what can we speculate on next? Thoughts?
