Respawn: Titanfall PC Will Have Aim Assist For The Controller Crowd

I have a love-hate relationship with Aim Assist in videogames. On one hand, I think it’s a necessary tool for controller-only games on console, since precision aiming with a joystick is akin to filing taxes while having your teeth drilled out. On the other hand, it has no place on the PC, where precision aiming with a mouse is considerably easier to manage.

So I’m, naturally, not very happy with this Titanfall news dug up by the Reddit Megaverse. See the following tweet, then prepare to rage.

Frowny face is at MAXIMUM, Captain.

There’s a time and a place for controller Aim Assist — namely when a controller is the only input option — and Titanfall on PC doesn’t qualify. This could end up being a distinct advantage for controller players, instead of some sort of equalizer, which is what the team at Respawn probably thinks. Worse yet, it could lead to some pretty nasty, aimbot-style exploits, but that bit is pure conjecture.

What say you? Any interest in controller Aim Assist in PC games? Or should controller jockeys have to hone their skills without a boost? Flame away in the comments!

First the announcement of a pathetically small number of players per match, and NPCs to boot. Now this? To these developers know anything about PC gaming?

Six months ago I wanted this game badly. Now I doubt I’ll touch it.

Welp this seals it for me, I’m taking this game off my list. Really guys, aim assist? I don’t see any professional scene developing around this game with that around. If I wanted to play a game requiring little skill, I would be playing call of duty right now.

It’s sad, my list of anticipated games keeps diminishing!

Unreal. Microsoft and its dev buddies are making the XB1 *less* desirable.

I hate to play the elitist card, but no self respecting PC gamer plays a FPS game on their PC with a controller. I kind of have to agree with Derek, it’s like the dev doesn’t know the PC gaming community at all.

A bit late to the party, but I’m glad Respawn did this.

Anybody worth there salt with a mouse can ‘aim’ circles around all but the absolute best of the console crowd. I’m talking about the hyper-competative boys who are in the top 1% of the CoD/BF/Halo console crowd… And that’s just an ‘experienced’ PC player. The top 1% of the PC FPS playerbase makes all but the best console FPS players in the world look like ‘average’ player.s

Really, I’m glad because I have the option to use my mouse or my controller without feeling totally 100% boned.

If its such a big advantage to us m/kb wots the problem??
I own console + pc and for me this is good news, finaly i will have a choice off which platform to buy for ,without having to be at such a huge disadvantage , bf4 for example! Looks great on my pc but steven hawkings would get more kills than me! Games should be fun for all who play and if people are getting all raged because off a slight aim assist, maybe they take it a bit too serious and are not all they crack themselves up to be on a m/kb anyway!
