Riccitiello Semi-Confirms Dead Space 3, No Mention of Dead Space 4 through 13

If you’ve played Dead Space 2 and sat through the credits, you’ll know that it sets up for at least eleven more Dead Space games. Knowing that and knowing how much money Dead Space 2 has rolled in so far (on pace to double that of the first game) should lead you to believe there will be a Dead Space 3.

Anyway, EA CEO John Riccitiello has put it out there that the company is at least planning to make another of these games. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference, as reported by Eurogamer, he said this:

Right now we’ve got strong, growing franchises including Madden, FIFA, Need for Speed, Medal of Honor and Battlefield.

Mass Effect, Dragon Age and the one that’s sort of not proven that’s coming later in our fiscal year, Star Wars [The Old Republic].

That excludes Dead Space because I think it will probably take Dead Space 3 before we get into that five million unit cadence versus say three, four.

I call that a semi-confirmation because it doesn’t necessarily mean they definitely will make Dead Space 3, even though they will definitely make Dead Space 3. That statement just means that the franchise will need to continue if it wants to achieve megablockbuster status.
