Riot Builds “Offline Solution” for eSports; No Plans for LAN Mode for Public

In light of internet connectivity issues that cropped up during the $2 million League of Legends tournament, Riot Games has developed a solution that will allow pro players to get on with the show in future events — however, this does not mean LAN is coming to the public at large.
League of Legends VP of eSports Dustin Beck tweeted:
We built an offline solution for the Finals for the pros to be protected from internet connectivity issues, more info in 2nd tweet

Beck went on to clarify:
There are no plans to develop a LAN mode for offline play at home / LAN centers. Just wanted to clarify for everyone. Thanks!
