Rise of the Triad Sequel Announced, Coming This Year

Announced at QuakeCon, the 1995 FPS “Rise of the Triad” is getting a sequel developed by Apogee Software and Interceptor Entertainment, set to release on PC and Mac (via Steam) later this year.

The developers are staying true to the original with five playable characters, a single-player campaign, and chaotic multiplayer that sees the return of dog mode and the Excalibat. The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 3 and will feature a heavy metal rendition of the original soundtrack, but you’ll have the option to play with the original sounds and music.

“We are all about fast-paced action and this was simply a perfect match for us as fans of old school shooters,” Interceptor CEO Frederik Schreiber said.

Never thought I’d see the day. The one game that had “true” God mode.

I remember this was a fun game back in the day. It was a nice change after playing all of Duke 3d, Blood, and Shadow Warrior.
