Robert Bowling Dropping the Modern Warfare 3 Ban Hammer on Cheaters

UPDATE: Someone tweeted at Robert Bowling today, asking what steps he was taking to punish cheaters. Bowling responded with this, which has some bite on it. He doesn’t sound like he’s messing around.

“@SexuaIChocolate By banning them from playing, removing them, and making it so they can never rank on the leaderboards again.”

In a recent tweet, Infinity Ward’s Creative Strategist Robert Bowling declared the ban hammer shall be dropped on players attempting to game the system in Modern Warfare 3.

His exact words:

1st round of #MW3 bans going out. Any player attempting to play unfairly or boost rank will be banned from leaderboards and from playing.

Just minutes ago, we posted a list of the 10 worst Call of Duty glitches, many of which included abuses of unintended “features” that hadn’t been patched out yet. It’s good to see this issue is being addressed swiftly with the latest installment of the series, but it begs the question: when will we see a patch to remove these exploits?

Tweet Mr Bowling and ask him why he thinks bans are the answer when…

…meanwhile, elsewhere on the webs…exact words:

“the first update to bypass MW3′s new VAC2 detection and bans is going out, please be sure to update our program/s.”

Also tweet Mr. Bowling and ask him when the day will be that they will permanently stomp out the people making their bread and butter from making cheats programs and updating for their games in the first place.

Until then, its futile.

this really sucks the game has only been out a few days and the cheating is already going on i hope the bans take place playstation needs to make a bullet like the cable companys had that lock up the harddrive on the ps3 when caught cheating and put a 100 dollar charge to have it unlocked maybe the 25 dollars they spend to cheat will not be so appealing im just a guy that loves the game but sick of playing with cheaters these are the guys that didn’t get picked to play dodgeball when they kids

I am glad that they are are banning the hackers. So what about the hacked lobbies that would give you max rank regular and prestige max rank. Will these people get banned? So how do you look to see who is cheating and who’s not so that there won’t be any wrongful banns?

Also I had some friends that use a program that would help them get back to there rank that they had. I told them to becarefull it could get them banned even if you are not doing any harm. What about this will doing this get you banned?

Any use of third party software or attempts to circumvent the intended framework of the rank system will surely be considered cheating and, if caught, will run you the risk of being banned or having your rank reset.

Whether Activision gets its act together and actually acts on it is another issue, but to be safe, don’t do it.

Yeah, I not using that stuff my friends said about already told them it could get them banned or there rank reset. I wouldn’t mind getting my rank reset cause the hack lobby max out my regular rank “not prestige rank” this way I can earn my stuff. I am glad that they are planning on getting rid of most of the hackers.

I kind of understand that people who are doing the glitches are trying to make the game more fun(for them of course), and i think if they hack to get 10th prestige or whatever, you shouldn’t ban them. Just remove them from leaderboards so that anyone who sees them can tell they aren’t legit. But when it comes to in game hacks like infinite health and stuff then you should ban them.
