Rock Band 3 Keytar, Revamped Instruments Revealed

500x_rock_band_3_keyboardWe knew it was coming. In the last week we’ve had a number of confirmations that Rock Band 3 was going to mix up the formula a bit with a new instrument but the Keytar is finally revealed.

Harmonix released images last night after a special pre-E3 event. The company showed off new gameplay videos for the instructions “Pro-Mode” for the redesigned guitar controller and keyboard – instead of colored bars players will actually see notes on the screen.  Pro-Am musicians also found out that Harmonix and MadCatz would be working together to add a MIDI converter for existing instruments and make them compatible with Rock Band 3 also. The Rock Band 3 bundle with the keyboard will retail for $130. More images after the jump.

Along with the new guitar and MIDI adapter Rock Band 3 also introduces a 3 cymbal drum expansion, which feature better hit detection and are based on MAdCatz ad-on version of the Rock Band 2 kit. The cymbals will retail for $40 while the MIDI box is reported to cost $40.
