Rock Band 3 May Feature Keyboards
I don’t know about you folks, but I’ve been glad to see the music genre slowing down of late. At one point, Activision was releasing so many Guitar Hero games that I figured we’d hear about Guitar Hero: Modern Warfare soon.
I’ve always enjoyed the Rock Band games, and I have to admit to being a little excited about the upcoming Rock Band 3 launch later this year. Harmonix is adding in the vocal harmonies featured in Beatles: Rock Band, and now it looks like they may be adding something else as well.
At the end of the Rock Band: Green Day demo that is currently available on XBox Live, there’s a teaser image for Rock Band 3 (pictured above). Notice what’s over there ate the end of the icons next to the vocal harmonies? Yeah, that looks like keys to me. But will they make the game better?
Now, I’m not 100% sold on this idea yet. It seems like it will be a little odd. If Harmonix sticks to their formula, you’re looking at 5-6 keys on the keyboard. Now, they could switch it up and change this, but there’s a limited amount of real estate on the screen for them to work with.
I have to admit that the idea intrigues me, and the idea of being able to add keyboards into the mix is attractive. Plus, it means that guitar won’t be stuck playing keyboard solos at times anymore.
However it turns out, I’m sure some people will love it, and others will despise it. Maybe it’ll give us a chance to play some great Rush songs (Subdivisions, anyone?) while singing, playing bass, and banging on the keys.
