Rock Band 3 Rumored to Include Keytar

Dear Rock Band 3: The 80′s called, and they want their instruments back.

According to a mole that burrowed his way over to Ars Technica, rather than support a regular keyboard peripheral, Rock Band 3 will offer a keytar. Yeah, that’s right. A freakin’ keytar.

For those of you who aren’t old enough to remember the 1980′s, a keytar is a keyboard that is worn and held like a guitar. It appeared off and on throughout 1980′s pop music, but I haven’t seen one in quite a while.

Apparently, Mad Catz will be creating all the Rock Band 3 instruments, and EA will only be doing the software side of the launch. Mad Catz will also be releasing various types of bundles, so you can get one instrument, two, or even a band’s worth of plastic.

All of this is still rumored, but Ars Technica has some confidence in their source. We’ll have to wait to find out E3 next month.
