Rockstar “Spazzed Like Babies” Over Grand Theft Scratchy

grand-theft-scratchy.jpg

Among the many other parodies in The Simpsons Game, Grand Theft Scratchy was a true headliner. But, unfortunately, some apparent crying from Rockstar caused EA to yank that particular level; or, more accurately, rename it to the much more lame “Mob Rules.” While we haven’t heard much more about it since that was announced, a few of the writers for the game recently appeared on Game Head to discuss their new game and Rockstar’s reaction to Grand Theft Scratchy.

“The people who make Grand Theft Auto, they spazzed out like little babies,” one of the writers said. He went on to knock Grand Theft Auto’s “lame attempts at parody” which typically amount to “putty the words ‘sixty nine’ in wherever they can find it [because] that’s their idea of a joke.”

Harsh words from one game developer to another, but really – was anyone going to mistakenly buy The Simpsons Game thinking that it was the next Grand Theft Auto? For a game like GTA that has had so many homages to classic movies, you’d think Rockstar could take a joke.

I like how someone from EA (or someone working with them) is ing about a company that ed about something, which could more likely than not be totally over-exaggerated.

I think it should be renamed “Rockstar Lawyers Spazzed Like Babies”

I highly doubt it was the guys who make the game, if anything I think they would be honored to be spoofed by the Simpsons

“The people who make Grand Theft Auto, they spazzed out like little babies,”

Its a good job EA didn’t say that over here because they would have been slaughtered.

Oh the hypocrisy!

Rockstar loves to parody everyone else and has even been sued for it, and now it is just as bad as the companies which sued it.

“I highly doubt it was the guys who make the game, if anything I think they would be honored to be spoofed by the Simpsons”

According to previous news articles it was someone from Rockstar at the Games Convention in Leipzig this year so I doubt it was a lawyer since a company’s legal staff doesn’t usually go to such trade shows.
