Rumor: Dragon Age Getting Multiplayer

According to a Kotaku tipster, Dragon Age is getting multiplayer! Oh boy. I guess since MMOs exist an RPG could have multiplayer, but sheesh.

According to the tipster, multiplayer will consist both of PvP and PvE stuff, and in PvP players can play as a dragon. Like whoa. The tipster is not sure, though, if the multiplayer content will be a part of a new game (presumably Dragon Age 3) or rather is some downloadable separate thing.

I guess I’m not definitely opposed to this, although my typical worry about such things does arise: will spending development time on multiplayer content take away from the single-player game? Dragon Age II, though, was so bad that maybe it doesn’t matter. We’ll see.

They should try finishing a storyline instead. And make the combat not suck.

I don’t understand why Dragon age 1 didn’t come with a multiplayer component akin to Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2. DA1 was marked at a spiritual successor to the old Baldur’s Gate series, which was multiplayer… I mean it could be done, and it wouldn’t necessarily mess with the story, I personally don’t care for the competitive multiplayers though I’d rather get a toolset and the ability to make my own stuff.
