Rumor: GTA IV Box Art Exposed? Not Really
The net was abuzz yesterday with the news that the box art for GTA IV had finally been revealed through the Xboxfamily website. Imagine Xboxfamily’s surprise and delight when they opened their mailbox and there, right before their very eyes, was a package from Rockstar filled with empty PS3 and Xbox 360 cases of the long awaited GTA IV. Who wouldn’t be excited? The artwork on the covers may have been a letdown for games, especially considering the cool artwork for GTA games past, but despite the mundaneness of what we were seeing, the public was somewhat sated. Now, news comes today from Xboxfamily that Rockstar had contacted them, and reassured them that the new toys they received were nothing more than place holders that people will start seeing at retailers. The email Rockstar sent them stated: “We have always kept the final art under wraps until shortly before the official launch of the game”.
So, now that we know that these covers are not the official designs for the game, maybe we can rest a little bit easier knowing that the actually artwork will be much cooler. This also means that Rockstar is going to be sending these “place holders” to retail – which insights the question: When in 2008 will we actually get to play the game?
With the release date changing with the wind, gamers cannot help but wonder just how many months will these place holders be sitting on shelves before we actually get to play the game.
Stay tuned for more information on the ever changing world of GTA IV.
