For those unfamiliar with the upcoming PSN game, Echochrome is a bizarre puzzler slated for a 2008 release that resembles the work of MC Escher in a lot of ways. Even though the game isn’t out yet, the Official Playstation Magazine is reporting that Sony has patented three other similar titles: Echoblack, Echosepia, and Echowhite. While it is common for publishers to patent several test names for unreleased games, this does beg the question of whether follow ups to Echocrhome may already be in the planning stage. This certainly seems plausible given that the game is already generating some buzz among PS3 owners, and the names certainly sound like possible offshoots. That or Sony just wants to create their own color scheme now.

This game is definitely one to check out. It looks intelligent and fun. The only shame is I’ll only get to play it outside my own home. Unless someone wants to donate a PS3 for the cause

I remember I was in the gamespot chat room (stupid desicion) while the Sony E3 show was live, and when they announced EchoChrome all the idiots in the room started clammering that it was a Portal ripoff.
