Rumor: Shadow of the Colossus Creator Fumito Ueda Has Left Team Ico

Eurogamer is reporting that Team Ico high-up Fumito Ueda, credited as the creator of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, has left the company. The rumor — and even Eurogamer calls this a rumor — goes that he has quit and is still working on The Last Guardian in a freelance capacity, and that his issues, whatever they may be, are the reason for that game’s delayed development.

Sony is being tight-lipped about this, so I guess you can assume that this rumor is true. I probably shouldn’t assume anything, but if Sony won’t give a profuse denial then you kind of have to go that direction. Just sayin’.

If it is true, then it’s bad news for everyone involved, probably. It makes me wonder if they’re ever going to ship The Last Guardian.
